A lush garden blooms below, osmanthus diffusing its heady apricot scent. A fountain gleams, its marble edges polished soft as fresh leather, snaked with tangles of scarlet roses.

Through veils of opulent jasmine, a woman approaches, her regal scent a mysterious shadow of dark vanilla and sandalwood, of ambery labdanum and purring ambergris. As she reaches the door, she opens her mouth to speak.
