A spicy-sweet scent swept away by bracing desert winds. A riddle of bergamot and balsam. Dusk greets a convoy of fragrant woody amber – and just in time for tea. Myrrh longs for a city where warmth is no façade.
Notes: bergamot, fennel seed, green tea, myrrh oil, liquorice wood, cistus oil, myrrh resinoid, belambre, vanilla accord
Why you'll love it
This fragrance is a sumptuous, direct ode to the soothing pleasures of myrrh. Perhaps best known as the one gift in the Nativity story no one has ever heard of, myrrh is a gum resin from trees in the genus commiphora, and is one of three ingredients in the famous Three Kings church incense. On its own, however, the resin smells richer, stickier, more mysterious, like petrified nuggets of off-dry maple syrup or a gold crown studded with gemstone raisins. It’s vaguely fruity but not too sweet. It’s this off-kilter deliciousness which is captured perfectly in “Legacy of Petra”. The scent seems to pour from whatever surface it’s sprayed on; a winding tendril of gleaming orange. As it dries, it feels sun-dried and vaguely, softly smoky, with a breezy woodiness that recalls fresh desert air. Anyone can wear the million iterations of warm, edible scents showcasing tobacco or amber. This is a crowd-pleaser of a different sort.
