Why you'll love it

Though its inspiration lies in tobacco, to us this fragrance makes us think of a soothing hot toddy with the sweetness of charred oak barrel, redolent of gummy seeds scraped fresh from a leathery vanilla pod. It has a syrupy pour, a mischievous glimmer, and a homey honeyed warmth. Tangential references to maple, caramel, rum and coconut are made sculptural and set alight: this is not a tropical beach fragrance, though it smells a bit like the tropics on fire. Even with all that richness, to us “Or du Sérail” somehow remains a versatile, lovable, approachable gourmand. It feels like a sweater you wear while mulling grandiose visions over a stiff drink, or when you want to intrigue a roomful of curious acquaintances. Like a blissful, warm-nosed tipsiness: cheerfully intoxicating.
