Frühstück with J. S. Bach at Café Zimmerman, 1723. Strong coffee, buttery almond pastries, pipe tobacco.

Liner notes:

"I love breakfast. It's really a passion of mine. I wanted to create the scent of the café in Leipzig where Bach wrote his famous Java Cantata in the 1700s. I imagine tightly packed tables of people breakfasting over buttery almond pastries and strong coffee. Smoking pipes, reading newspapers, talking. Creamers of milk, kitchen steam, tobacco clouds, a hint of an old fireplace in the corner, and burgundy leather upholstery on the seats. I love the idea that you can change your house into this legendary café at such a specific moment in time simply by lighting it." -D.S.

Notes: javanese coffee, almond kutchen, pastry, tobacco leaf, butter, leather upholstery, fireplace

Burning time: 60 hours

Perfect for Autumn Evenings

The candle smells exactly as described: a soothing blend of a cozy café—freshly ground coffee beans, buttery croissants or pastries, and a touch of leather with hints of tobacco smoke.

I can totally picture an old café filled with antiques and echoes of the past, with warm yellow lamps casting a soft glow and a grandfather clock quietly ticking in the corner. But it’s not just any café—it feels like something from a romanticized, slightly surreal, fantasy world. This candle perfectly captures that vibe and is ideal for autumn, when you just want to curl up in a comfy armchair, dive into a dark academia novel, and watch dusk settle in with a big mug of tea cooling beside you.

After you blow it out, the candle leaves behind a soft, buttery vanilla-coffee scent, like the end of the day—an empty cup and the lingering aroma of a closed café, mixed with literary daydreams.

If you like Maison Margiela’s By the Fireplace, I definitely recommend giving this one a try. They have a similar vibe, but Breakfast Leipzig is less smoky and a little creamier.
