"Haltane" is Parfums de Marly’s long awaited revisit of the oud genre, and in true Marly style, it feels noble, elegant, and oh-so-aspirational. It opens with a breezy waft of lavender, supple, velvety, and demure like the prairies. Languid rays of sweetness beam from petrified jewels of agarwood. Upon first spray, the Etiket office rang out in unison: it’s like masculine candy! But this isn’t a sticky, indulgent gourmand. "Haltane" is warm but restrained, like a smouldering forest covered in a paper-thin craquelin of sugar. There is quiet confidence in its simplicity. As it dries down, it becomes even smoother, worn-in like a blindingly expensive pair of hazel-coloured calfskin leather gloves.
